Espadrilles, a shoe dating back thousands of years

The oldest documented shoe in Europe was found on the Spanish Mediterranean coast. These sandals were made with a rubber sole dating back more than 6,000 years. These sandals evolved into what we now know as rubber-soled shoes or espadrilles, a product closely associated with our culture and with an origin designation.

Culture, traditions, and new fashion

For centuries, farmers and peasants have worn espadrilles and they have been part of popular culture. Over the years, we've perfected our product using materials that enhance comfort and fit. We combine innovative technology, materials, and hand-stitching in our espadrilles with the latest fashion trends to bring you a contemporary product rooted in over 6,000 years of history. The result is a unique product that brings together culture, traditions and new trends.

In keeping with the origin of this product, we continue to handcraft our distinctive espadrilles in Spain, thus paying homage to a product bearing the Designation of Origin. The manufacturing process of Toni Pons espadrilles is similar to the original product, such as the hand-sewing of the jute sole to the upper.
